In the Frame
In my work, I play with the notions of foreign and native. I am curious to understand how we transition between these states, and what it takes for us to call a place home. Could we attach ourselves to more than one place? Could home reject us if we have left it to migrate to another land? The images I use to describe this dynamic tend to have literal boundaries, like fences and barriers, which emphasize tension and distance. These boundaries could be interpreted as cultural, geographic or emotional. The landscapes in my work are not literal places; they are manufactured images from personal photographs and found images.
